Across PSP Specialization Proposal
TABLED FOR FUTURE DISCUSSION
Description of Proposal
Within HA Specialization Proposal ← refer here for intro into program
The goal of this team would be to highlight several tasks which require high levels of technical competence, such as FEA, CFD, composite structural analysis, aerothermal analysis, composite fabrication (using VARTM, RTM, or filament wound when we get there), GNC, and whatever else I don’t know because I’m a structures guy.
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Organizational memory transfers better between generations | Requires a lot of coordination with different groups |
Students are more employable | Different best practices on different teams could lead to disagreements |
Standardized education and curriculum can be revised yearly, developing over a long time into a more solid program | More obligations for students who are already busy being specialists on their teams |
Purpose of Proposal
People want to learn more stuff, and if resources between multiple PSP teams were pooled, everyone could build better vehicles.
Plan for Action
Other PSP team’s exec boards need to be reached out to. Then the specialists must be convinced and brought on board within these teams. Once these groups have gathered, they can begin to develop training material and documentation in the PSP Command Media . Then, they can bring on new students who are interested in learning their technical skills from across the organization, so that a new class of specialists can be developed. Over a long time, this will lead to a stable, organized, and consistent track for driven PSP students to develop themselves professionally.
