High Altitude Lead Expectations (Updated Spring 2023)

Operational Expectations:

  • At least one 1-on-1 meeting between leads and their subteam members should occur per semester

  • Be well versed in the ideas of Project Management on a subsystem level

  • Attend all of their team’s weekly meetings and workdays, or delegate the responsibility if there is a conflict.

  • Actively delegate parts of the project to members, this can include technical work and other relevant areas involved in team procedure.

  • Actively maintain the organization of relevant team pages, this includes confluence, jira, and other applications that may arise in the future.

  • Attend other relevant subteam meetings and is involved in the larger scope of the project.

  • Be present for design reviews and any necessary preparation

  • Consistent communication on subteam level decisions and progress with PMs, this should be on a regular basis.

  • Actively use team channels over direct messages when possible

  • Gather, document, and implement feedback from team members, ensuring that they feel empowered and included. If one feels their lead is not empowering or including them, please talk with PMs.

  • Don’t be an asshole.
